How to Rock the Rain on Your Wedding Day

Weddings in this half of the year can be so fun, vibrant and—tricky. Yes, tricky. That’s because from now all the way to the –ber months, the weather’s surely going to be playing tricks here and there. Days can start off as bright with cloudless sky in the morning, and finally turn out damp and chilly in the afternoon, even stormy. Now if you’re a bride, the thought of having rain on your dream wedding—whether outdoor or indoor—is enough to send shivers down your spine. 

But who says rain has to spoil your big day? When life gives you rain, dance in it! Let’s bring on the bright side with these tips that you can roll out of your petticoat as soon as the clouds come rolling in.

Have a Plan B

It pays to have foresight, especially on your big day. Check for a 14-day, 7-day and even 3-day weather forecast prior to your wedding and see if you will need to get some extra preparations ready in case it rains. If your wedding will be held outdoors, will you have a nearby indoor location that you can move to should it start to pour? If not, will a tent and flooring (should the ground get soggy after much rain) be available? Do you have generators on standby in case a storm comes up and power lines get cut off? These may sound too minor a detail, but it’s always good to have something to pull out the moment it starts to drizzle.

Give a Heads Up

Nobody wants to be the uninformed guest. So give them a heads up. If weather forecasts predict for rain (or even strong breezes) on your wedding day, make sure you let them know so they can prepare. You may request for your guests to wear extra layers as the rain may turn the weather a little cold. The ladies and bridesmaids may also avoid wearing chiffon dresses that can ruffle in the wind. Last but not the least, if you’ll be having an outdoor wedding, be sure to let your hairstylist know that the weather will be a little breezy. That way, your hairstylist can prepare a style that will not make you look like a disaster on your big day.

Hype Up on the Romance

Rain is romantic, remember that! And in a great deal of sense, rainy weddings get to celebrate more fun and style than those that missed the showers. There are a lot of ideas to make the rain work wonders on your wedding day. For one, you can have your first (umbrella) dance under the soft drizzle! (This works up so nicely on camera, trust us! And speaking of good shots, there are so many amazing (even magical) photos that can come up out of a rainy wedding! What you should do is get good wedding photographers (and yes, there are many!) and let them do their thing.
