Boho Lovin' - Carlo and Hyds' Wedding

There’s always something ethereal that comes alive when a summer afternoon takes a bohemian twist. It’s laid-back, fresh, bursting with colors—almost like being stuck in eternal spring time! Ah, the perfect time to fall in love…

And we’re getting us some Boho lovin’ in Hyds and Carlo Cecilio’s wedding!

Photographers Carlo and Hyds is one couple that we are so blessed to work with. And it’s not just because these two are dear friends of ours, also working the wedding circuit. Carlo and Hyds share a sweet love story that’s got God’s handprints all over it! (Trust me, when cat-versus-dog enemies like Carlo and Hyds turn into adoring lovebirds, that’s what you call a miracle!) And they’re not one to keep the gratitude to themselves!

Carlo and Hyds wanted their wedding to be a treat for all their loved ones—a celebration of the love and support that their families and friends have shared with them all these years. They wanted it to be festive yet very meaningful, even families will have a memorable time. That’s why when they said they wanted a very fun ‘Boho chic’ look for their wedding, we immediately knew we were on the same page.

‘Love One Another’

Hyds picked the theme ‘Love One Another’ because these were the words that God led her to when she was praying for Carlo. It came from the passage in John 15:17 which commands us to “love one another”. With this, Hyds thought of what she calls ‘Jack and Jill,’ banners holding hands with hearts between them. Very simple and sweet.

Showers in Summer

Hyds has always loved walking under showers of dried leaves in summer. There’s just something about the leaves and soft breezes that makes her feel God’s intimate presence. And that very feeling is what we wanted to capture the moment she walked down the aisle. We had the aisle laiden with dried leaves and the entry to the aisle adorn with vine curtains and floral borders. To add a twist, too, we had the kids play with really big white balloons with the words ‘Here Comes the Bride’ as Hyds was walking towards the altar.

Afternoon Blooms

The bride gave specific orders on how she wanted her wedding bouquet to feel and look: “like picking random flowers on a walk around the forest”. And just like that, we were on board with her dream-like theme! Hyds’ bouquet lay stunning with ivy leaves, choice shrubs, and baby’s breath. (We even accessorized it with a vintage camera charm, for a personal touch!)  The rest of the entourage carried beautiful pompom bouquets with blue and yellow checkered ribbons and assorted accents. As for the other floral set-ups, the couple requested for a Baby’s Breath-only styling.

Nook Looks

To make the wedding especially fun for their guests, Carlo and Hyds thought of having cute, sweet nooks! One was the Bohotique wherein guests find dressers filled with boho accessories to complete their outfits—bangles, fedoras, earrings, stylish hats, necklaces—all for their keeps! Carlo, too, had his sweet side let loose through a Sweets nook featuring overflowing candies and gummy bears which the kids surely enjoyed. Families also had fun when we provided kites that the kids played with and flew although out that windy afternoon.

But would we forget about the lovely couple? Of course not! We made sure the two treasured their romantic moment on our unique couple’s area set-up--a twin bed with chic blue sheets and brushed white side tables. Adorning this cosy spot are light blue, pink and white pompom flowers.

A Personal Touch

Carlo and Hyds made their wish plain and simple: that everything be made personal for all their guests. In fact, a few months before their wedding, the bride had been collecting empty wine bottles to give away to their guests. The bottles will contain Bible verses that the couple had prepared for their families and friends.

Other personal touches highlighted the couple’s shared passion for photography.
